CAIRO – 23 January 2022: Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem announced the resumption of broadcasting the American Metropolitan Opera's performances in the Egyptian Opera.

The minister said this step aims to create a state of artistic and cultural popularity for the shows in Egypt and comes within the strategy of building bridges of creative communication with various countries of the world, opening distinct horizons for opera art.

This comes in light of the fact that Egypt is the first regional country to establish an opera house and later to take the lead in signing a protocol to broadcast the performances of the Metropolitan, which is one of the most important artistic institutions in the world and includes the best elite of opera stars.

Minister Abdel Dayem added that Egypt was the first country in Africa and the Middle East to enjoy direct broadcasting in 2022, after the previous season was canceled due to the global pandemic.
