CAIRO – 3 January 2021: In 1922, Egyptologist Howard Carter discovered the tomb of King Tutankhamun, but he did not explore the tomb then, as he entered it a year after the discovery, that is in 1923.

Also, Carter did not discover the golden sarcophagus of the king until January 3, 1924, 2 years after the tomb’s discovery.

Still considered one of the most important archaeological discoveries, the discovery of the tomb in 1922 by Howard Carter made headlines around the world. This was accompanied by the appearance of gold artifacts and other marvelous pieces discovered in the tomb.

Carter could not set foot in the tomb until a year after the discovery, as he was doing excavations at the entrance to the tunnel leading to the tomb of Ramses VI in the Valley of the Kings, due to the presence of a large vault. He continued to dig carefully until he entered the room that contained the tomb of Tutankhamun. When he entered the tomb, it took a long time to inspect all the king's holdings, which exceed 5,000 artifacts.

The tomb of King Tutankhamun [1336-1327 BC] of the 18th Dynasty is world-renowned because it is the only royal tomb in the Valley of the Kings whose contents have been discovered relatively intact and complete.
