CAIRO – 29 December 2021: The exhibition "Coptic Icons" by artist Dina Rihan launched at the Mahmoud Saeed Museum, coinciding with the celebration of Christmas.

 

 

 

 

It includes eleven works of ceramic sculptures inspired by ancient Coptic art with a contemporary vision.

The exhibition varies between diagnosis, abstraction and symbolism, which were executed in an artistic style of great skill and intellectual depth.

 

 

 

 

Among the sculptures displayed is a statue of the Virgin Mary and Christ, executed in burnt pottery, colored with inlays.

 

 

 

 

Dina Rihan is an Egyptian sculptor and potter and teacher of sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria University. She obtained a  doctorate in ceramic sculpture, where she conducted her research and artistic experiments at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and Cardiff Metropolitan University in England, in addition to research projects using digital technologies such as 3D printing at the School of Art and Design in Wales, England.
