CAIRO - 13 December 2021:On the occasion of the celebration of the 46th anniversary of the opening of the Luxor Museum of Ancient Egyptian Art, the museum is organizing an exhibition “Treasures of Minister Amenhotep Hawi”, which includes 155 artifacts.

This unique museum holds about 3000 artifacts dating back to prehistoric times and showcases the late period, which represents the glory of Thebes, right up to the Islamic era.

One of the most important galleries of the museum is the “Cachettes” gallery.

It was a lecture hall at the time of the museum’s inauguration in 1975, and on September 12, 1991 it was converted into an exhibition gallery for the artifacts discovered in famous cachette of Luxor Temple in 1989.

One of the featured items in the collection is a calcite double statue of the crocodile god Sobek and the 18th Dynasty pharaoh Amenhotep III.

Established specifically to revive the art of the ancient city of “Thebes”,   Luxor Museum of Ancient Egyptian Art celebrated on Saturday December 12, 2020 the 45th anniversary of its opening.

The Museum is celebrated its 45th anniversary by holding temporary exhibition in coordination with the Egyptian American mission in EL-Assasif.
