CAIRO - 6 November 2021: Egyptian authorites seized a number of manuscripts from different ages, an Ottoman coining die and two papyri from a passenger at Cairo International Airport on November 6.

 

The seized items include 13 manuscripts of Islamic jurisprudence, spiritual medicine of Bishop Michael, Bishop of Atrib, a manuscript of the Great Fasting Prayers written in Coptic and Arabic and supplications beginning with the names of Prophet Muhammad.

 

Head of the Archaeological Units in Egyptian Ports Hamdy Hamam announced that  according to the Antiquities Protection Law number 117 of the year 1983,
the seized items will be given to the Supreme council of Antiquities.
