CAIRO – 27 October 2021: Egypt is participating in UNESCO’s Virtual Exhibition held under the title "Creative Resilience – Art by Women in Science", which is scheduled to launch on October 28 and runs until  December 1.

The Ministry of Culture had received an invitation from UNESCO to nominate whomever it deems appropriate to participate in the exhibition, which is organized by the organization for the works of women working in the field of science and technology from different countries of the world, provided that these works are personal creations of women working in this field.

The Supreme Council of Culture, through the Digital Culture Committee, nominated the work of the Egyptian engineer Christine Arida, head of the strategic planning sector at the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, to participate in the exhibition.

The works of 200 creative people from many countries around the world were presented to UNESCO, and the works of 54 women from 33 countries were selected to participate in the exhibition this year.

Through the exhibition, the organization aims to highlight the artistic contributions of women specialized in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and to showcase their personal experiences and creativity in the time of the pandemic.

Five artworks by Egypt’s Arida will be displayed within the “Silent Dialogue” group. These are paintings that highlight love and support for a life partner and a friend in silence during times of adversity, such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is worth noting that the exhibition will be displayed virtually at the headquarters of the organization due to the circumstances related to the global pandemic.
