CAIRO – 21 October 2021: Sotheby's auction of paintings by the international Spanish artist Pablo Picasso will kick off on October 23.

This historic auction includes eleven works, all of which were on display until recently in the famous Picasso restaurant in Bellagio.

This is the first ever public auction in North America outside of Sotheby's in New York.

The displayed paintings embody the beloveds of the international Spanish painter in rare portraits created by Picasso during his periods of relationship with them.

One of the paintings to be displayed is “Femme au béret rouge-orange” painted in 1938, which has a price tag of $30 million, according to its estimated value by auction. It is one of the last great paintings of Marie Therese. Her relationship with Picasso fell apart in the late thirties of the last century. Her iconic face has slowly been replaced by Picasso's other partner, Dora Maar.

Joining this stunning collection are two huge paintings from 1969. The first is one of Picasso's largest paintings of this period, “Homme et enfant”, which reflects the late artist's spontaneous style and highlights his legacy as an artist, man and father, the main preoccupation of Picasso's last years.

Pablo Ruiz Picasso, was born on October 25, 1881, in Málaga, Spain and died April 8, 1973, in Mougins, France. He is one of the most famous artists of the 20th century and is credited with founding the Cubist movement in art.
