One of the most unique partnerships of El Gouna Film Festival over the years has been with Cairo-based investment firm Gemini Africa  who have made it their mission to connect the world of entrepreneurship and tech to the world of cinema, an industry that has, for decades, been resistant to innovation beyond software and equipment upgrades.

Last year, Gemini Africa launched their CinemaTech Track, inviting startups working in and around filmmaking and entertainment to pitch their startups.

This year, the partnership has taken another step, with the company signing an MoU with Tu Berlin Campus El Gouna that will see Gemini Africa and GFF host workshops and classes throughout the year to empower both tech-centred students and film students, bringing the two fields together to pave the way for tech-powered revolution in the cinema industry.

The signing was followed by a networking event at TUB, one that saw figures from both the entrepreneurship and filmmaking fields come together in a celebration of a unique initiative by Gemini Africa that has the potential to not only change the local cinema industry, but the global one, too.
