1569 - The assassination of the Andalusian leader Mohammad ibn Umayyah, the leader of the Moriscos in the Rebellion of the Alpujarras.

 

 

 

 

1798 - The outbreak of the first Cairo revolution against the French campaign against Egypt, which claimed the lives of about 2,500 Egyptians, while only 16 French were killed including a general.

 

 

 

 

1827 - The Naval Battle of Navarino takes place between the Egyptian fleet led by Ibrahim Pasha, supported by the Ottoman and Algerian fleets on one side, and the fleets of Britain, France and Russia on the other.

 

 

 

 

1919 - The United States Congress adopts a law banning all alcoholic beverages in the United States.
