A Greco-Roman Temple was uncovered in Sohag

CAIRO - 1 October 2021: Egyptian security forces were able to arrest a man from Sohag governorate who was secretly digging in his house with the intention of searching and excavating for antiquities.

Under his house, it was found that there was a square-shaped hole with depth of 3 meters, below which is a 6-meter-long stone crypt.

 
 
In coordination with the competent authorities, it was reported that the archaeological basement is part of a temple dating back to the Greco-Roman era.
 
After confronting the accused man he confessed that he had excavated for antiquities with the intention of selling them.
