CAIRO – 22 September 2021: Ubuntu Gallery in Zamalek is hosting a plastic art exhibition entitled "Bahgoury Ballet" for the pioneering artist George Bahgory, in addition to a group plastic art exhibition titled "Shuffle".

 

 

 

Both exhibitions will launch on September 26 and will run until October 16.

 

 

 

The hall designated for George Bahgoury’s Gallery operates from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily except on Fridays.

 

 

 

George Bahguory presented dozens of exhibitions all over the world. He won many awards, including the first international award in caricature in Rome in 1985 and 1987; and King Abdullah II Award for Creativity, Literature and the Arts. He is also the author of a number of books, most notably "From Bahgoura to Paris" and "Forbidden Paintings".

 

 

 

International artist George Bahgoury is a satirical cartoonist, born in 1932 in Qena Governorate, near a village on the outskirts of Nagaa Hammadi, famous for the cultivation of reeds and palms called Bahgoura, thus his artistic name, George Bahgoura.

 

 

 

He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cairo; studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Paris, Department of Painting; and worked as a cartoonist from 1953 to 1975 in Rose El-Youssef and Sabah El-Khair magazines.

 

 

 

Bahgoury traveled to Paris in 1975, and resided there until his return to Cairo in the nineties.
