CAIRO – 16 September 2021: On September 16, many important events took place.

 

 

Important world events:

 

 

1400 - Welsh rebel Owen Glyndwr proclaims himself Prince of Wales.

 

 

1431 - An honorary treaty was signed between Muslims and Castilians in Andalusia, by which the Kingdom of Castile took the biggest step towards achieving its wish to abolish the Islamic presence in Andalusia.

 

 

1916 - The first British tank enters the battlefield in the Battle of the Somme, one of the battles of World War I that took place between the British and the Germans.

 

 

1931 - Italian forces hanged the Libyan Mujahid Omar Al-Mukhtar.

 

 

1952 - Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khidr Hussein assumes position of Al-Azhar Grand Mufti, succeeding Sheikh Abdul Majeed Salim Al-Bishri, who resigned.

 

 

1969 - The Grand Imam, Mohammad Al-Fahham, is appointed Sheikh of Al-Azhar Mosque.

 

 

1982 - The Sabra and Shatila massacre takes place in Lebanon.
