Important world events:

 

 

1191 - The Battle of Arsuf takes place as part of the Third Crusade, and Richard I, King of England, defeats Saladin in Arsuf.

 

 

1228 - The descent of the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II in Acre, Palestine, and the start of the Sixth Crusade, which led to the restoration of the Kingdom of Jerusalem.

 

 

1652 - About 15,000 Han farmers revolt against Dutch rule in Taiwan.

 

 

1695 - Henry Avery achieves one of the most profitable pirate raids in history by capturing the Great Mughal ship Kang I Sawai. In response, Sultan Aurangzeb threatened to end all trade with the English in India.

1952 - Ali Maher Pasha's ministry in Egypt submits its resignation 44 days after its formation, following the July 23 revolution, and Major General Mohammad Naguib forms the new ministry and reserves for himself the Ministry of War and Navy.

 

 

1978 - The first Camp David meetings were held between Egyptian President Mohamed Anwar Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin.
