Important world events:

 

251 - The Battle of Abritus takes place between the Romans and the Gothic and Scythian tribesmen, which ends with the defeat of the Romans and the death of the Roman Emperors Decius and Herennius Etruscus in the battle.

 

 

1798 - The fleet of the French campaign against Egypt, led by Napoleon Bonaparte, arrives on the coast of Alexandria to begin the first real contact between East and West.

 

 

1847 - Warworth railway station opens in England.

 

 

1862 - The foundation of the Russian National Library.

 

 

1942 - The first battle of El-Alamein begins.
