CAIRO – 28 June 2021: On June 28,  Egypt’s Minister of Tourism & Antiquities Khaled El-Enani held a meeting with Supervisor of the Grand Egyptian Museum project and the surrounding area Atef Moftah, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Waziri, Assistant Minister for Archaeological Affairs at the Museum Tayeb Abbas and a number of museum leaders to follow up on developments at the Grand Egyptian Museum.

During the meeting, the officials discussed the latest procedures, as well as archaeological and engineering equipment needed to conduct a final simulation experiment of the process of transferring King Khufu's first Solar Ship from its current location in the Giza Pyramids area to its permanent display location in the Grand Egyptian Museum, during the next few weeks.

This is in addition to discussing the latest developments in the archaeological and engineering work in the museum, and the file of providing and operating services in it.

It is worth mentioning that the work team at the Grand Egyptian Museum has succeeded in conducting the first experiment to test the performance of the vehicle designated for the transfer of the first Khufu Ship, in order to ensure its safe arrival to its final destination.

The transportation process will be carried out using the smart remote-controlled cart that was specially imported from Belgium to transport the ancient ship in one piece, after securing its move.
