CAIRO – 23 May 2021: Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem said that the ministry’s various artistic, and cultural projects participating in the Decent Life Initiative seek to revive the Egyptian identity, and achieve cultural justice by bringing the cultural product to all parts of the country.

The projects also aim to spread enlightenment, and develop collective awareness, especially that of young people, to create a generation capable of completing the nation-building dream.

This comes within the framework of the Ministry of Culture’s participation in the activities of the Decent Life Initiative, which reflects the state’s keenness on the welfare of the people in various Egyptian governorates.

The initiative is considered a step towards the comprehensive development of rural communities nationwide. A set of artistic and intellectual activities have been implemented as a first stage since January 2021.

Minister of Culture Inas Abdel-Dayem clarified that the plan to participate in the initiative includes several stages, the first of which includes 74 activities in 21 villages of 6 governorates. The activities of the first stage were launched with performances of the Confrontation & Wandering Theater.

Furthermore, Abdel-Dayem noted the "Book Kiosk" project is one of the ministry’s contributions in the initiative. The project aims to provide the publications of the ministry and of private publishing houses at reduced prices.

The publications are thoroughly selected by the General Egyptian Book Organization in cooperation with the Egyptian Publishers Association for Villagers.

The “Book Kiosk” is implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Local Development, which works to determine the suitable locations and number of kiosks in each village according to the population density.
