Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism &Antiquities participates in the 41st edition of International Tourism& Travel Exhibition in Madrid

CAIRO - 22 May 2021: Under the theme "For tourism activation", the 41st edition of the International Tourism and Travel Exhibition (Fitur) opened in Madrid, Spain, from May 19th to 23rd, with the participation of 60 countries. 
 
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities participated with a delegation from the tourism sector headed by Mr. Ahmed Youssef, CEO of Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board, which opened the Egyptian pavilion at the exhibition, in the presence of Ambassador Omar Salim, Ambassador of Egypt in Madrid, Professor Majid Abu Sedera, Head of International Tourism at the Board, and some members of the Egyptian Embassy. 
 
Mr. Ahmed Youssef stressed that Egypt's participation in such important international tourism events has a great impact in promoting the Egyptian tourist destination, especially since the Fitur is an annual international exhibition that serves as a base for the association of many operators of the tourism industry, investors, businessmen and experts from around the world, which strengthens the Egyptian position in the Spanish and European markets, and opens up new horizons to promote the Egyptian tourism product. 
 
Professor Ahmed Yusuf added that the exhibition is scheduled to witness a large number of events, conferences, seminars, sessions and workshops with attendance and virtually, where discussions will be focused this year on the latest proposals and mechanisms adopted for the development of the tourism sector in light of the latest circumstances of the CORONA virus pandemic, the call for coexistence with the current global status, and the steps necessary to move forward with the modernization of health protocols necessary to resume tourism activity, identify new strategies and global tourism action plans, and how vaccines against CORONA virus are considered part of the coordinated approach to the resumption of tourism, as well as the expansion of vaccination campaigns as global recovery indicators progress, as well as directing efforts to restore confidence in tourism and travel.
 
Mr. Majid Abu Sedera explained that Fitur is the third most important global tourism gathering after the Berlin ITB and the London Stock Exchange WTM and the largest tourist exhibition for all Spanish-speaking countries on the Iberia Peninsula and Latin American countries, where more than 250,000 people visit Annually from around the world, pointing out that the ministry participates this year in a pavilion designed in the form of a monument pharaonic temple area of 200 m2 with the participation of 10 exhibitors representing 8 tourism companies and two hotels, in addition to Egypt Air. 
 
Located at the main entrance to the Middle East lounge attached to the European Lounge, the Egyptian pavilion is designed differently each year to consider the safe distances between exhibitors and visitors. 
 
He added that the Egyptian pavilion includes huge displays on the external aspects for the screening of films and promotional materials for Egyptian tourist destinations, in addition to fixed displays to highlight precautionary measures and health safety controls applied in airports, tourist facilities, hotel, archaeological sites and museums, in addition to showing some footage as part of the promotional campaign launched by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities on advertising platforms for the event of the Pharaohs Golden Parade and the of Grand Egyptian Museum expected to open soon. 
 
Visitors to the exhibition were impressed by the design of the Egyptian pavilion, especially since the Spanish tourist's passion for Egyptian antiquities and cultural tourism is particularly well known.  
 
During the exhibition, international tourism organizations launched several promotional initiatives and workshops aimed at making the tourism sector an effective platform in creating jobs, sharing experiences, and working together to meet current challenges that showcase sustainable development practices and goals, innovation and tourism investments to develop new tourism patterns and trends, as well as develop effective strategic partnerships. 
 
Several forums have also been launched to assess potential travel and tourism trends after the COVID crisis as well as to promote tourism and explore the current technological potential that serves new areas of tourist destinations.
