CAIRO – 20 May 2021: Veteran Egyptian actor Samir Ghanem passed away on May 20, at the age of 84.

 

 

Earlier, Adviser to the President of Egypt for Health Affairs Mohammad Awad Tajuddin, revealed the latest developments in Samir Ghanem and Dalal Abdulaziz's health condition.

 

 

Head of the scientific committee to combat COVID-19 Hossam Hosni, explained earlier that the condition of  Samir Ghanem has not improved, his scan is still positive for COVID-19 and that he has not recovered yet, as some rumored.

 

 

For his part, Rami Radwan called on everyone during his program “DMC Evening” broadcast on the DMC satellite channel  to pray for the fast recovery of Ghanem and his wife renowned actress Dalal Abdul Aziz, who were both transferred to hospital earlier in May as their health condition deteriorated.

 

 

Ghanem -who passed away of COVID-19- is a distinguished Egyptian comedian and entertainer. He was a member of the stand-up comedy trio Tholathy Adwa'a El-Masrah alongside late comedians George Sidhom and El-Deif Ahmed.

 

 

After El-Deif Ahmed's death in 1970, Ghanem and Sidhom continued under the same name “Tholathy Adwa'a El-Masrah” until the 1980s.

 

 

In 2017, Ghanem received the Faten Hamama Honorary and Excellence Award, as testament to the vital role he has played in the film scene and his immense contribution to Egyptian cinema.

 

 

Ghanem’s filmography includes over 40 films, between 1964 and the present. Among Ghanem’s best known roles is the comic character of Fatota, a famous TV classic from the 1980s.

 

 

Some of Ghanem's most notable films include “El-Regala Fi Khatar”, “Tegbha Keda Tegelha Keda Heya Keda”, “Awlad Al-Halal”, "Mogrem Raghm Anfoh” among others.

 

 

Ghanem is the father of popular Egyptian actresses Donia Samir Ghanem and Amy Samir Ghanem.
