16th Sawiris Cultural Award’s granting ceremony cancelled

CAIRO – 19 May 2021: The Sawiris Foundation for Development and the Board of Trustees of the Sawiris Cultural Award announced the cancellation of the 16thSawiris Cultural Award ceremony, which was set to be held on May 21, 2021.

The cancellation of the cultural award came in response to the state’s decisions to officially cancel all celebrations, conferences and gatherings, to ensure the safety of the attendees in light of the global pandemic.

On its official website and various social media platforms, the Sawiris Foundation for Development will announce the winners on May 21.

The Sawiris Cultural Award is an Egyptian literary prize, awarded annually by the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development. It was established in 2005 with prizes in two categories: novels and short stories.

Since then, additional categories in screenplays and playwriting have been added.
