CAIRO – 26 April 2021: The 9th Faisal Ramadan Book Fair, which is being held by the General Egyptian Book Organization, presents a set of new and distinct ideas this year. The exhibition includes all publications at a low price, starting from LE 20.

 

 

 

These ideas include exhibiting  publications and documents owned by the National Library and Archives related to the holy month of Ramadan. Among these is the sighting of the crescent of the blessed month of Ramadan 1211 AH, in the presence of the Mufti of al-Maliki, the Shafi’i Mufti, the Hanafi Mufti and the Head of Jurists on Shaban 2, 1211 AH, (February 2, 1797 CE.)

 

 

 

Also, the exhibited documents include a statement of the types of cartouche used in seeing the crescent moon of the holy month of Ramadan on August 16, 1882 in addition to the documents of notifying Egyptian consulates and commissions of the dates of the Islamic occasions, such as the first of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha in February 18, 1930, and other documents related to the holy month of Ramadan.

 

 

 

A total of 42 publishing houses are participating in the exhibition, including the various sectors of the Ministry of Culture, the Dar Al-Maaref Foundation, a number of private publishing houses, and Sur Al-Azbakeya [Azbakeya Wall Publications].

 

 

 

The book fair runs until Ramadan 18.
