CAIRO – 29 March 2021: On March 29, the jury of the International Prize for Arabic Fiction [Booker Award] announced the shortlisted works of the 14th edition of 2021. The names of the winning writer and novel will be announced in a virtual ceremony on May 25, due to the global pandemic.

In its 14th session, the award had received 121 fictional works from 13 countries, before the jury announced the long list at the beginning of March 2021, which included 16 works.

The International Prize for Arabic Fiction was established in 2007 and is sponsored by the Booker Prize Foundation in London and funded by the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi.

The prize is awarded exclusively in the field of novels, and a long list is nominated, from which a final list of six novels is drawn to compete with each other for the award. The winning novel will be awarded $50,000, in addition to $10,000 for each of the six shortlisted novels.
