CAIRO – 23 March 2021: The Egyptian Publishers Association, headed by Said Abdo, addressed all publishing houses participating in the Alexandria Book Fair, scheduled to run from March 25 to April 3, in Kouta land in Alexandria, to adhere to a set of rules that support the success of the exhibition in light of the global pandemic.

The Exhibitions Committee, headed by the publisher Mahmoud Khalaf, set instructions to guarantee the commitment of the publishing houses to participate in the activities of the exhibition in coordination with the Exhibitions Department of the General Book Authority.

The rules are as follows:

1)    Participants should commit to intellectual property rights and should not display any book that violates intellectual property rights.

2)    Participants should not participate in an area that exceeds 80 percent of the wing space.

3)    Participants should not display books that incite immorality, contempt of religions, or spread chaos in the country.

4)    Participants should not display imported products or educational aids, or smuggle the imported product by packaging it as a local product.

5)    Participants should not display publications for publishing houses that are not participating in the exhibition or that are not members of the Union. Also, participants should not sub-rent the pavilion.

6)    Participants should maintain the precautionary measures taken to battle COVID-19.

7)    Participants should not hold signature parties in the wings.

The Egyptian Publishers Association confirmed, "Publishers who do not abide by these instructions will expose themselves to closing the pavilion, confiscating the rental value, and reviewing participation in the Cairo International Book Fair 2021."
