Mohammad Suleiman, Gamal Bakhit to be honored in Egypt’s Opera House on March 25

CAIRO – 23 March 2021: Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem will honor renowned musician Mohammad Ali Suleiman and the acclaimed poet Gamal Bakhit during a ceremony organized by the Egyptian Opera House on March 25 at 8 p.m. at the Grand Theater.

 

 

During the ceremony, the orchestra, led by Maestro Hazem Al-Qasbaji, will perform, in addition to the stars Ali al-Haggar, Ahmed al-Haggar, Ahmed Saad, Mai Farouk, and Eman Abdel Ghani. The evening comes as part of the plans to celebrate the symbols of soft power in Egypt.

 

 

The program of the celebration includes a selection of distinctive compositions presented by musician Mohammad Ali Suleiman.

 

 

It is noteworthy that Mohammad Ali Suleiman was born on October 2, 1947 in Alexandria. He studied in Alexandria Conservatoire, majored in playing the violin, and graduated in 1966-1967. He is the father of the singer Angham and the brother of the late singer Emad Abdel Halim. He wrote the soundtracks for a number of popular movies, as well as TV and radio series.

 

 

Suleiman collaborated with many great singers, and produced distinguished and original melodies. He also composed a group of patriotic songs.

 

 

As for the poet Gamal Bakhit, he was born on January 29, 1954. He graduated from the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University, Department of Journalism, in 1979. He worked for the magazine “Sabah Al-Khair” published by the Rose Al-Youssef Foundation until he became the editor-in-chief of the magazine.

 

 

Bakhit headed the cultural and artistic section of the Al-Sharjah newspaper between 1987 and 1990. He started writing lyric poetry in the late 1970s and has since written dozens of songs.
