EU says ready to provide technical support for SCZone development projects

CAIRO - 9 March 2021: EU Ambassador in Cairo Christian Berger has voiced the bloc's readiness to provide technical support for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) development projects over the coming five years.

During a meeting with SCZone chairman Yehia Zaki on Tuesday, Berger praised the zone's capabilities as well as its development projects.

Zaki gave a detailed explanation on the SCZone achievements at the level of infrastructure, investments and facilities in the past period.

The zone achieved high growth rates in 2020 despite the Covid-19 crisis, he noted. 

After their talks, the two officials toured the industrial developers at the zone, including the Suez Industrial Development Company (SIDC).
