CAIRO – 03 July 2017: The price difference between natural gas vehicle (NGV) and the fuel of 80-octane and 92-octane gasoline will direct people to use the NGV, the Ministry of Petroleum said Monday.

The cost of transmitting a vehicle to be a NGV user ranges between about LE 4,000 ($220) to LE 6,000, according to the capacity of the cylinder, First Undersecretary for Gas Affairs at the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum Mohamed Hassanien Radwan added to Egypt Today.

Hassanien highlighted that there would be an installments system between clients and the transmission firms affiliated to the petroleum sector.

The first undersecretary further noted that no technical issues were proven to affect any vehicle after being transmitted to run on the NGV, except using an area to install a gas cylinder in the vehicle.

The number of vehicles using NGV in Egypt reached around 220,000 since the Ministry of Petroleum started its program to transmit vehicles to run on NGV instead of gasoline or diesel fuel in 1996. The consumption of the vehicles using NGV amounts to 35 million cubic feet per day.

Earlier Thursday, Egypt’s cabinet has introduced new increases, where the 80-octane gasoline soared from LE 1.60 ($0.08) to LE 3.65 per liter, while the 92-octane rose from LE 3.50 to LE 5.00 per liter.
