CAIRO – 4 February 2021: Public investments directed to Giza governorate in the 20/2021 plan is LE 30.6 billion, with an increase of 29.6 percent over the 2019/2020 plan, representing 11.8 percent of distributed public investment, according to Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala el-Saeed.

 

El-Saeed added that the number of development projects in Giza Governorate reaches 407 projects.

 

This came in a statement by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development on the features of the "citizen's investment plan" in Giza governorate for the fiscal year 20/2021.

 

The “Citizen Plan” includes a detailed presentation of all development indicators and projects that are being implemented in each governorate separately, so that citizens can follow up on the implementation of these projects, whether they are being implemented in their governorate, city or village.

 

 

She explained, Thursday, that the launch of the “Citizen Plan” comes within the framework of the continuous keenness to link the planning process with Egypt's Vision 2030, the localization of the sustainable development goals, and a continuation of the participatory approach adopted by the Ministry with all development partners, in a manner that establishes the principles of governance, accountability, and the transparency of the state's development plan.

 

With regard to the sectoral distribution of public investments targeted in Giza governorate in the 2021/2021 plan, she indicated directing investments worth LE 10.8 billion to the housing sector, at a rate of 35.3 percent, and for the transport sector, at LE 8.3 billion, 27 percent, in addition to directing LE 3.96 billion to the antiquities sector, by 12.9 percent, the higher education sector is devoted to investments worth LE 3.3 billion, 10.7 percent, and LE700 million pounds to the youth and sports sector, 2.3 percent, in addition to LE 4 billion directed to other sectors, 13 percent

 

She stated that the most important development goals in the housing sector and the development of informal settlements in Giza Governorate in the 2021/2021 plan are to direct about LE 3.9 billion for drinking water and sanitation services, and in the field of higher education, the most important projects of the plan are the completion of the Zewail City of Science and Technology, the completion of the project to establish the University of Technology in the city 6 October.

 

In the field of developing archaeological areas, the most important targets, according to the report, are the completion of the Grand Egyptian Museum, as the project aims to establish a global cultural center to get acquainted with the Egyptian civilization while documenting and preserving the museum’s holdings. The appropriations listed for the year 2021/20 for this project amount to LE 2.9 billion, and the number of artifacts targeted for transfer to the museum in the plan is 3,000 artifacts.
