CAIRO - 10 January 2020: Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala el Saeed has announced that a sum of EGP 236 million has been earmarked for supplying the Bahr al Baqar wastewater treatment plant with electrical power.

In a statement released on Sunday, El Saeed said the facility is expected to treat 5 million cubic meters of water per day to reclaim and cultivate around 400,000 feddans in the east of Suez Canal.

The Planning Ministry is keen on providing the necessary support for finalizing the project, which is seen as one of the most important ventures to develop the Suez Canal and Sinai peninsula, she added.

The project is aimed at making the best use of available water resources in increasing the country's agriculture spaces, especially in the Sinai peninsula, as well as establishing integrated agricultural development projects, the planning minister noted.
