Egypt announces launch of 1st phase of unified automated tax system

CAIRO – 3 January 2021: Minister of Finance, Mohamed Maait announced Sunday the launch of the first phase of the unified automated tax system at the centers of large and middle financiers and senior liberal professions.

 

This came during Maait’s inauguration of the financiers' service centers known as "front offices", where he was keen to experiment with the work cycle himself, and went to the electronic screen, so the finance minister was the number one financier, and chose one of the services, to be directed automatically to the designated window.

 

The Minister also inaugurated self-service halls in centers of large and middle financiers and major liberal professions aimed at helping financiers or taxpayers and providing the necessary technical support in self-dealing with the system of unified automated tax procedures, with the major tax actions it enables.

 

He emphasized that the launch of the first phase of the system of unified automated tax procedures in the centers of large and middle financiers and the major liberal professions, is one of the main tributaries of the national project to modernize and automate the tax administration system, which enjoys great support and close follow-up from the political leadership.

 

He explained that 64 sub-procedures of the main tax work are automated in two phases, and the electronic invoice system has already been launched, which contributes to the facilitation of financiers or taxpayers.

 

Maait noted that taxpayers can now go to the online portal of the Egyptian Tax Authority with the unified tax registration number for each of them, which includes all types of taxes that are subject to it, and to submit all tax return forms that amount to 49 electronic forms, each according to his activity, whether for income tax , or a business gain tax.

 

"Or declarations of deduction and collection, or value-added tax, or stamp tax, and on the light of which the value of the various types of taxes due is determined, and then the payments are made electronically by a non-cash payment method,” he added.

 

He also pointed out that the taxpayers can also, through what the first stage of the system of standardized automated tax procedures in the centers of large and middle financiers and senior free professions, make use of all registration services electronically, in order to save time and effort, achieve the highest levels of accuracy and contribute greatly to reducing human interference. and laying the foundations for tax justice.

 

The minister emphasized that the first stage of the system of unified automated tax procedures in the centers of large and middle financiers and the major free professions is a true translation of efforts to integrate, simplify and automate the procedures for linking and collecting income tax, value-added tax, stamp tax, and work earn tax, in a manner that accurately takes into account the technical specificity of each Tax, and reflects what is included in the Unified Tax Procedures Law.
