CAIRO - 8 December 2020: Director of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) Martino Melli said work is underway on a project for offering a grant worth 3 million euros to develop a number of Egypt's productive projects in the leather, marble and furniture fields.

The grant offers one million euros for the Roubiki Leather City, one million euros to the marble and granite industry in Shaq El-Thoaban zone and one million euros for the Damietta Furniture City (DFC), Melli added.

A cooperation protocol is being prepared to be signed between the AICS and the technological centers at the Egyptian Trade and Industry Ministry to help transfer the developed Italian expertise and industrial technologies to Egypt, he noted.

This came during a visit made by a delegation from the AICS to the Roubiki Leather City to get acquainted with the latest developments at the city and review prospects for benefiting from the support programs offered by the agency to improve services provided to the tanning and leather manufacturing projects in the city.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Cairo for investment and urban development company called on the Italian side to support a number of projects in the Roubiki city.

Both sides discussed means of boosting cooperation between Egypt and Italy to develop Damietta furniture City.
