Planning Minister agrees to boost Ministry of Transport’s plan by LE1B

CAIRO – 1 November 2020: Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Hala El-Said agreed Saturday to reinforce the Ministry of Transport’s plan for the fiscal year 2020/2021with an amount of LE 1 billion. 

 

This aims to complete the implementation phases of the project to develop the ring road around Greater Cairo to end on time.

 

El-Said said that the approval of the amount came to implement the decisions of  the Cabinet issued regarding the position of implementing the projects of the Ministry of Transport, and following the directives of the political leadership on the necessity of taking the necessary measures to complete the project to develop the Ring Road around Greater Cairo.

 

She stressed that the state is taking serious and rapid steps in developing and implementing road and bridge projects that contribute to reducing traffic congestion in Cairo's streets, especially the internal streets.

 

Saeed added that the development of the Ring Road aims to raise the level of road service, by implementing expansion works to make the road expand to receive more cars.

 

 

She pointed out the interest of the political leadership in the speedy completion of the implementation of the ring road, stressing the keenness of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development to provide the necessary support to complete the road.

 

The Minister of Planning and Economic Development clarified that the transport sector enjoys investments estimated at  LE 119.7 billion in the 20/2021 plan, pointing out that it is intended to increase the sector's growth to reach 4.2 percent in the current year 20/2021 plan.

 

On a recent basis, El-Said had approved an amount of LE 100 million as an additional appropriation for the Ministry of Transport to start raising the efficiency of the Aswan / Al-Alaqi road, with a length of 150 km and its cost of LE 560 million.
