CAIRO - 27 October 2020: Telecom Egypt on Tuesday signed a cooperation agreement with the multinational telecommunications company Ericsson on upgrading the international portal of Egypt's primary telephone company using state of the art technologies.

The update of the portal is meant to enhance the quality of the Egyptian company's landline and mobile services and achieve its aspirations towards developing the basic network, in addition to meeting customers’ future requirements.

The agreement was signed during a video conference by Telecom Egypt Managing Director and CEO Adel Hamed and President of Ericsson in the Middle East and Africa region Fadi Pharaon.

Also, the deal targets cutting down the total cost of ownership, providing the possibility of quickly and efficiently publishing virtual network functions and subsequently paving the way for launching models of corporate business and services.

Once Telecom Egypt joins the Internet of Things (IoT) world, Ericsson will provide licences for narrow-scale software enhanced with IoT technology for the Egyptian company. The project is envisaged to be put into effect by the end on 2020 in Cairo and Alexandria governorates.
