CAIRO – 29 June 2017: Prices of fuel oil for cement and fertilizers factories jumped 40 percent Thursday, Prime Minister Sherif Ismail said.

The price per ton will be increased from LE 2,500 ($137) to LE 3,500 ($192.6), Ismail said in a statement.

The Cabinet imposed Thursday new increases to fuel price as the price of 80-octane gasoline soared from LE 1.60 ($0.08) to LE 3.65 per liter, while the 92-octane increased from LE 3.50 to LE 5.00 per liter.

New prices for natural gas piped into households and commercial sector will be applied as well.

Residential and commercial consumers of less than 30 cubic meters will pay LE 1 ($0.5) per cubic meter, while consumption bracket between 30-60 cubic meters will pay LE 1.75 per cubic meter, and the bracket above 60 cubic meters will pay LE 2.25.

Prime Minister Sherif Ismail also announced that new electricity tariffs will be applied in July, to be collected on August power bills.
