Deposits in postal saving fund decrease 4.6% in 2019/20

CAIRO -  7 October 2020: The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics revealed that pensions disbursed from post offices during the fiscal year of 2019/2020 increased by 7.5 percent, while deposits in the postal saving fund decreased by 4.6 percent during the year.

 

The statistics indicated, in a statement issued, Wednesday, that the value of pensions disbursed from post offices amounted to about LE 84.2 billion during the year 2019/2020, compared to LE 78.3 billion in 2018/2019.

 

The data also showed that the value of the amounts deposited in the Postal Saving Fund decreased to LE 95.7 billion in 2019/2020, compared to LE 100.4 billion in 2018/2019, marking a decrease of 4.6 percent.

 

Meanwhile, the amounts deposited in postal checks rose 3.5 percent to LE 136.9 billion in 2019/2020, compared to LE 132.3 billion during 2018/2019.

 

It added that the number of internal correspondence registered in government units reached 23.2 million for the year 2019/2020, compared to LE 28.0 million for the year 2018/2019, with a decrease of 17.1 percent.

 

CAPMAS pointed out that the number of postal services offices reached 3,973 in 2019/2020, down from 3,981 offices in 2018/2019, with a decrease of 0.2 percent.

 

The number of electronic payment service units that perform service nationwide reached 3,950 units in 2019/2020, compared to 2,381 units in 2018/2019, with an increase of 65.9 percent. It is an automated system that provides the ability to conduct financial transactions and inquire about the balance.
