Transportation fares to jump 10% after fuel price hikes

CAIRO – 29 June 2017: Following the fuel price hikes imposed Thursday morning; transportation fares will increase by no more than 10 percent, head Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) Abu Bakr El-Gendy announced.

The increase is calculated based on studies conducted in different governorates, Gendy said in a press conference.

Meanwhile, no price increase recorded in the fares of railway trains, head of the Railway Authority Medhat Shousha said.

Earlier this morning, new fuel prices were announced as price of 80-octane gasoline soared from LE 1.60 ($0.08) to LE 3.65 per liter, while the 92-octane increased from LE 3.50 to LE 5.00 per liter.
