4.6% increase of foreign labor in Egypt 2016: CAPMAS

CAIRO – 29 June 2017: The number of foreign workers in both the government sector and the public sector reached 889 in 2016, compared to 850 in 2015 – an increase of 4.6 percent – the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said in a Wednesday report.

Total foreign workers are 53.5 percent from European countries, according to the report.

In 2015, the largest group of foreign workers were employed by the Egyptian General Petroleum Authority and Ain Shams University (49.4 percent), followed by foreign workers in the public sector (39.5 percent), most of them working for the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company.
