CAIRO – 27 August 2020: Egypt spent LE 2.4 billion to 1.6 million irregular workers, Minister of ManpowerMohamed Saafan said Thursday.

 

Safaan clarified that the third batch of the presidential grant to irregular workers was completed on Wednesday, August 26.

 

The initiative includes spending LE 500 in 3 payments, totaling LE 1,500. It aimed to help irregular workers whose incomes were severed because of the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

 

Saafan confirmed in a statemen, that the experience has proven after the disbursement of the three payments that the Egyptian state is strong and takes care of its citizens and provides them with the necessary support in times of adversity, noting that all concerned authorities have played an important and effective role in the stages of disbursement that required everyone to work in the spirit of one team and the emergence of a civilized appearance befitting the Egyptian state.

 

In March, the manpower ministry opened the door for irregular workers to register on its website www.manpower.gov.eg. to receive the monthly grant.
