98% of Egyptian families own mobile phone

CAIRO – 24 August 2020: The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology revealed the increase in the percentage of Egyptian families that have a mobile phone to about 98.8 percent, while the percentage of families that have a landline phone reached about 27.6 percent.

 

The percentage of families owning computers reached 64 percent, the percentage of families using the Internet reached about 60.9 percent, and the percentage of families who had access to the Internet from home reached about 59.9 percent, according to the ministry’s data.

 

Data of the Ministry of Communications:

 

·       The percentage of Egyptian families that have a mobile phone is about 98.8 percent.

·       The percentage of individuals who use mobile phones is about 99.4 percent.

·       The percentage of Egyptian family members who use the Internet from home is about 95 percent.

·       The percentage of Egyptian family members that use the Internet to send information and messages via e-mail is about 93.9 percent.

·       The percentage of Egyptian families who use the Internet on a daily basis is about 69.6 percent.

·       The number of software trainees until the end of the period January - March 2020 is about 25.22 thousand trainees.

·       The number of trainees in the capacity development program provided through the Information Technology Institute until the end of the period January - March 2020 reached about 13.11 thousand trainees.
