CAIRO - 23 June 2017: The Central Bank of Egypt secured EGP 3.5 billion of small currency denominations, from 50 piasters to 50 pounds, to cater for Egyptians' need of them during Eidul Fitr.

In a statement on Friday, the CBE said the amount secured this year rose by 25 percent.

People are used to change large money units into smaller ones to give money as gifts, especially for children, during the bairam.
