CAIRO – 17 June 2017: Export deals from the Port Said free zone recorded $ 690 million in 2016, Minister of Investment Sahar Nasr said Saturday.

Spread over an area of 703,000 square meters, Nasr said free zones in Port Said have received $ 2.8 billion in investments last year. The free zone is spread across 85 projects in industrial, storage, services, garments, chemicals, engineering industries and product input sectors.

The private free zone in Port Said encompasses 16 projects with $ 1.5 billion in investments and an export value of $ 300 million in 2016. The zone employs 9,000 workers.

Meanwhile, the Port Said Public Free Zone has 69 projects with $ 1.3 billion in investments with 27,000 workers. It exported $ 390 million in 2016.

Nasr said that she coordinated with Port Said governor Adel El Gadban to cooperate in drafting regulations for the free zones in the governorate, so that projects adopt environment-friendly policies.
