CAIRO - 19 December 2019: Finance Minister Mohamed Mait underlined that tax evasion campaigns are going on to collect state's dues from dodgers.

He expounded that magnifying revenues would reduce the budget deficit, public debt and inflation rates.

Elaborating, he pointed out that people and corporations who dodge paying their taxes deprive the government of the resources it needs to provide vital public services and infrastructure and to tackle poverty and improve the quality of life for citizens.

In statements on Thursday, he said efforts are under way to hone skills of officials in charge of combating tax evasion to work in line with international standards.

He added that tax evasion amounts to an honor crime and tax evaders should be jailed for two to five years in addition to paying fines and their due taxes.
