CAIRO - 15 June 2017: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi discussed the country’s current economic status, public debt and the new state budget for year 2017-2018 with Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and Finance Minister Amr El-Garhy on Wednesday.

“Garhy suggested methods to decrease the state’s budget deficit,” said a statement released by Alaa Yousef, official spokesman for the Presidency.

The plans discussed for the new fiscal year included a potential increase in funds allocated to social protection networks and programs designed to serve citizens with minimum salaries.

Sisi underlined the importance of monitoring and evaluating the country’s economic performance regularly based on international economic standards.
