CAIRO – 14 June 2017: Smart phone sales in Egypt recorded $ 2.9 billion in 2016, according to statistics provided by local firm Delta Holding.

Around 18 million smart phone devices have been sold last year, which is in line with the investments value in that sector, Chairman of Delta Holding Fahmy Tolba said Tuesday.

Smart Phone consumption in Egypt reached 72 percent of the market volume, “despite the decline in sales in 2016, 18 percent in Egypt, 9 percent in Saudi Arabia and 7 percent in the UAE,” Tolba explained.

Mobile phones subscription in Egypt recorded 110 percent by January 2017, with 98.2 million users, according to the latest monthly bulletin of the Ministry of Communication published in May.

Meanwhile, mobile internet users registered 26.16 million subscriptions by the same month, according to the same report.
