CAIRO - 3 September 2019: A protocol is set to be signed soon to resolve outstanding financial issues between the ministries of electricity and finance, said Cabinet Spokesman Nader Saad on Monday.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli reiterated the keenness of the government on adopting mechanisms to put an end to prolonged financial problems between ministries and help them to fulfill their financial obligations and settle their debts, the spokesman said.

This came during a meeting he chaired to discuss and review the latest developments regarding this problematic file, the spokesman also said.

Settling this file is meant to alleviate the financial burdens borne by the state coffers and improve the financial situation of the ministries and other governmental bodies as well as services they offer to citizens, he pointed out.

The ministers of electricity, petroleum and finance were present at the meeting.

"We are dealing with problems and challenges that have been accumulating for dozens of years," said Madbouli, promising that the government is determined to resolve such kind of long-running problems.

Finding a settlement to the financial standoff between the governmental organs will enable each party to get its complete dues and subsequently manage them in the way that best fits them, the spokesman said.
