CAIRO- 2 September 2019: The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced Monday that Egyptian cotton exports in the period between March and May 2019 reached 510,200 metric quintals compared with 160,100 metric quintals during the same period last year.
This represents around 218.8 percent increase due to a rise in cotton production, CAPMAS said in its quarterly newsletter for the third quarter of the 2018-2019 agricultural year.
The Agency said the total consumption rate of domestic cotton reached 38,000 metric quintals from March through May down from 39,200 metric quintals during the same period of the previous year, recording a decrease of three percent due to the suspension of production at some textile factories
