Loans provided to customers hit LE1.8T in December

CAIRO –1 March 2019: Total loans provided to banks’ customers, excluding the Central Bank of Egypt, recorded LE 1.802 trillion in December, compared to LE 1.76 trillion in November, marking an increase of LE 44 billion, according to the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).

CBE added in a report that governmental loans reached LE 570.5 billion, LE 343 billion of which were provided in foreign currency and LE 227.4 billion in local currency.

It added that non-governmental loans increased to LE 1.231 trillion, explaining that LE 148.9 billion of the non-governmental loans went to the agriculture sector, LE 268.4 billion to the industrial sector; whereas the commercial sector received LE 113.8 billion.

Also, CBE announced that total deposits at the banking system, excluding the Central Bank, rose by LE 57 billion, to reach LE 3.82 trillion by the end of December 2018, compared to LE 3.76 trillion by the end of November.

CAIRO - 28 February 2019: Total deposits at the banking system, excluding the Central Bank, rose by LE 57 billion, to reach LE 3.82 trillion by the end of December 2018, compared to LE 3.76 trillion by the end of November, according to the Central Bank of Egypt.



It further referred that domestic liquidity recorded LE 3.628 trillion by the end of December 2018, with an increase of 5 percent or LE 174.4 billion during the period of July to December of fiscal year of 2018/2019.
