CAIRO – 4 June 2017: Egypt’s general economic indicators of the third quarter (Q3) of 2017 are positive as a reflection of the country’s economic reforms, said Minister of Planning and Administrative Reform Hala al-Saeed on Saturday.

Saeed’s statements came during a meeting between with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s (EBRD) Chief Economist, Sergei Guriev, as well as Janet Heckman, the Managing Director for the southern and eastern Mediterranean (SEMED) region.

The EBRD officials praised the economic reform measures adopted in Egypt in the last period, expressing the bank’s willingness to cooperate with the Egyptian government in implementing the future projects and economic plans. They noted that the EBRD has participated in financing a number of public and private projects worth $2.6 billion in recent years.

The meeting tackled the country’s measures to implement its comprehensive development and administrative reform plans.

Saeed said Prime Minister Sherif Ismail has ordered the formation of a high committee of administrative reform, grouping a number of related ministers.

The new committee will work on activating the state’s program that aims to develop public services and prepare the qualified administrative cadres, in light of the new executive regulation of the Civil Law recently approved by the Cabinet.
