Trade min. expects increase in Egypt's exports after lifting Sudanese ban

CAIRO - 26 October 2018: Minister of Trade and Industry Amr Nassar said the lifting of a ban on Egyptian exports to Sudan is one of the key results of the joint presidential committee of the two countries that concluded its activities Thursday.

The minister expected that this decision will contribute to increasing Egypt’s food exports in the coming stage, especially that they slumped to $44 million after the Sudanese ban decision in March 2017, compared to $164 million in 2016.

Nassar said meetings of the joint Egyptian-Sudanese presidential committee resulted in a number of important decisions that would serve the economies of both countries, the Ministry of Trade and Industry said in a statement Friday.

The great support provided by political leaderships in Egypt and Sudan has been a main factor that led to the success of the efforts made by the two countries’ government officials over the past stage, he noted
