Value of industrial commodity production hit LE189.9bn

CAIRO - 19 September 2018: The value of the industrial commodity production increased to reach LE 189.8 billion in 2016/2017 against LE 125.6 billion in 2015/2016, with a 51.1 percent increase, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said on Wednesday.

According to the annual bulletin issued by CAPMAS on industrial commodity production for 2016/2017, the value of the metal products, machinery and equipment, except for transport equipment, hit LE 16.6 billion during 2016/2017, compared with LE 9.7 billion in 2015/2016 with an increase of 70.6 percent.

The value of beverages and tobacco production registered in 2016/2017 hit LE 8.3 billion, compared to LE 6.3 billion in 2015/2016 with an increase amounting to 31.8 percent.

The value of essential chemicals and other chemical products along with industrial synthetic fibers reached LE 7.3 billion during 2016/2017, against LE 9.2 billion in 2015/2016, with a 20.3 percent decrease.

The value of paper production recorded during 2016/2017 reached LE 650 million, against LE 504 million in 2015/2016 with a 29 percent increase.
