Sisi directs speeding up refining projects to narrow gap between supply, demand

CAIRO - 17 September 2018: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed the government to speed up its progress in the establishment of refining projects to fill the gap between the imports and consumption.

Sisi’s remarks came during his meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and Petroleum Minister Tarek el Molla.

The president also ordered them to build more refining projects in different governorates such as Alexandria, Assuit, and Suez in order to provide the petroleum products via local refineries and optimize Egypt’s natural resources, presidential spokesman Bassam Radi said.

The president stressed the significance of following the scientific approach for developing the energy sector and enhancing the skills of its employees.

The president told the ministers to abide by the work plan aiming at developing Zohr gas field to reach the maximum production, after it hit two billion cubic feet per day.
