EGX, CBE announce July 1 as an official holiday

CAIRO – 27 June 2018: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) decided that Sunday, July 1, will be an official holiday on the occasion of June 30 revolution.

The market will resume trading on Monday July 2, according to an official statement issued on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) announced that Banks will be off on July 1.
The last official holiday for EGX and CBE were Sunday and Monday, June 17 and 18, on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr.

On a different note, EGX ended Tuesday’s session in red, as the benchmark EGX30 declined 1.58 percent, to close at 16,197.44 points, and the broader index EGX100 dropped 1.76 percent, closing at 2,030.10 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 decreased 1.9 percent, to close at 794.61 points.
Meanwhile, The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) lost LE 3.6 million of its market capitalization in the first five minutes of Tuesday’s session.

The market capitalization reached LE 911.46 billion five minutes after the session started.

In Monday’s session, market capitalization gained LE 86.46 million, recording LE 915.01 billion, compared to LE 914.92 billion in Sunday’s session.

All indices went in red in the first five minutes of Tuesday’s session as the benchmark EGX30 declined 0.46 percent, and the equally weighted index EGX50 slipped 1.06 percent.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 decreased 0.25 percent, and the broader index EGX100 went down 0.40 percent.
